4WD in snow troubles

Hi Everyone,
Please help. I have an 05 LJ. It's my first "TJ" era jeep. We got some decent snow here in Massachusetts and I used 4wd for the 1st time. The roads were covered and slippery. When I put it in 4wd the jeep would be ok and then it would seem to lose traction. When I got off the gas to correct it the rear end would kick out every time. It only has 25K on the clock.

What era jeep did you drive before? The wheel base and no traction control makes jeeps a bit squirrelly on snow.

The LJ should be better than a TJ.

The TJ's short wheelbase combined with its part-time 4x4 system that mechanically locks the front and rear axles together isn't the best choice for slick icy paved roads.

OK Thank you. It seemed it wanted to go go go but had nothing to grab on to. To me it behaved a bit oddly.
I've had cj's, an xj, yj, a jk, and a commander. Im going from a jk unlimited last winter to the lj now
