5.2 swap questions

you added only one drawing

Reference was to a earlier post that didn't attached.

How ever It looks to be wired right now. I'll do a explanation later.

Right now it has a IAC issue and won't ideal at all, revs great starts with a flutter of fuel but won't ideal.
OBD2 plug works and can scan.. YA.....

New questions.
In the following I'm wired to the ZJ plug but the RAM plug has same injector 2 spots.
WHY?
Does it mater?

Double check the wiring on the IAC. You might need to swap the wires in pin#1 & #3. Also try cleaning your IIAC. I'm leaving to 2 weeks but I've got some no name brand IAC's I could send you but it wouldn't be until the after May 15th.

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Intake? Brake booster? Throttle body plate?

Which one applies to your wiring? If it's running and all your injectors are firing I wouldn't worry about it.

And sorry haven't had time to look at the alternator wiring. I do know that on a TJ compared to a RAM it's different but don't know about a GC.
Your PCM is what controls the voltage from the alternator.

My setup is
TJ firewall harness and PDC, RAM ECU & ZJ Motor/Trans Harness.

IAC I'm going to clean as It was fine the 1st - 3 fire ups.

Well then I wouldn't worry about what a RAM FSM is showing.

You hadn't said it ran OK but then wasn't. That makes a big difference compared to it not running correctly.

Do you have a scanner that allows you to see the Fuel Sync? Even if you haven't had the distributor out I'd check your fuel Sync. It can cause running issues.

Fuel Sync - Nope.

IAC was dirty ;) ideals now...

I drove it!!

No 3rd or 4th gear and getting a code, I think the relay I used is wired wrong so going back after that.

Charging works!
No Speedo :(
3rd & 4th tossing a code - They didn't code pre-swap, I know this because I drove my donor around pre-motor/trans pull. And had all 4 gears.
So, I have a wiring issue. .

Cool....
You should set your fuel sync.....

HMMM

MY RAM ECU was for a 46RE..
Could that cause a code/issue running a 44RE?

No doesn't matter. It doesn't know the difference.

LOL - really helps to have power going to the relay - lol

only a PO500 VSS code now, being no speedo, I'm guess that/s related..

It needs the VSS to tell it when to shift. Get that fixed and road test again.

@Wildman

on my C103 plug I don't have the wire..
It goes right past the plug to the PCD

On engine side I have that wire to ECU and down to the VSS

Do I need to split into it ??

The VSS wiring is all correct as it's all part of the "ZJ" harness, now I have a Super shorty TeraFlex SYE that uses it's own VSS.
It did work before the swap.

Right now all I can remember is that it has to have both the VSS on the transmission and then the one off the t-case...
The one on the transmission is actually the transmission shaft speed sensor & then the one on the t-case is the VSS... I have a STaK's t-case which uses a Rubicon VSS so I had to rewire my plug because my TJ was a 97 and used the geared speed sensor.

So no I don't think you have to split it. But you've got to have the input VSS from the t-case and it was a sperate harness as I remember.

I'm questioning if my ground down at the T-case is connected up stream correctly.
Going to try adding a extra ground at the T-case tomorrow.

@Wildman
If Pin # 13 on your C3 plug. isn't hooked up could it cause VSS to not funchtion?

Is that the O/D wire? It sounds familiar. If so then NO it won't affect the VSS. I don't have my schematics in front of me.

Grounds can be a BIG issue with many problems that you'll chase your tail on...
