7 inch wheels vs 8

Have a set of OEM 7 inch wheels that I like, also a couple sets of 8 inch. Is there any advantage to running a 32x11.5x15 tire on the 7 inch vs the 8 inch wheel ??

Better off road, ie not coming off the rim when air down ?? What is your experience with 7 vs 8 inch rims ?? thanks D

I ran a set of UGLY OEM 15x7 wheels on my 91 with 31's. Worked fine ect and kept the mud from going inside when door or topless as the tires were in the wheel wells or under the OEM flares. Hated them uglies and bought 5 black steelies in the 15x8 size. Cant recall the back spacing but they are your basic cheap Quadratec $65 wheels. I hate them bastages. Stick out about 2" past the flares. Hit mud or snow and your taking a shit bath along with the dash,seats and interior. Im now considering a set of 15x8 OEM Canyon wheels but Im curious where the extra 1" is and whats the back spacing.Worst case is some rubbing and shimming out the steering stops likely. Far as a 7 vs a 8" wide wheel...you can run a 33/12.50 on a 8" wheel so theres no reason you cant run a 32/11.50 on a 7" wheel. skinny wheel and fat tire = more sidewall protection moreless as the sidewalls are canted inward toward the bead unlike running a 31 on a 10" wheel where the side wall is canted out toward the bead exposing it to cuts and the like.

* 5 on 4.5" bolt pattern
* Backspacing = 5.5"
* Optional wheel with 30" tire package
* Offset = +25 mm

Im now considering a set of 15x8 OEM Canyon wheels but Im curious where the extra 1" is and whats the back spacing.

About 1/4" extra on the inside and 3/4" extra on the outside.

5.5" backspacing on canyons, 25.4mm offset

5.25" backspacing on oem 5 spoke steelies, 31.75mm offset

Basically the centerline of the wheel/tire is .25" farther to the outside
