98 Jeep Wrangler wiring harness and PCM help

I have a 98 TJ SE.

I have Built and putting in a 2000 4.0 which has a Coil Rail setup instead of a Distrib.

Can I adapt a 98 4.0 wiring harness to work? Will the PCM work? What do you guys recommend? I have seen an adapter at Morris 4x4 for the Coil Rail Plug.

I know a V8 sounds better but I'm going with a Cammed 4.0 that I just rebuilt instead on this Jeep.

You need the wiring harness (engine and dash both) and PCM from that 2000 TJ 4.0.

The wiring harness from your 98 2.5 is not going to work.

There isn't a way that I'm aware of to convert the distributor harness to fire the coil rail which has 3 ground triggers and a hot.

Do you know where I can find a PCM, Dash and Engine Harness? I know it has to be out of a 2000. I've found the PCM on ebay but haven't found any wiring. I checked the usual places like Painless Wiring, Quadratech, 4WD, etc. This can't be so hard to find. It's definately no unicorn, there were quite a few of these things made. My engine came out of a Rubicon and has the coil rail instead of the distributor.

It's almost time to weld in new mounts and I really need the harness and all in the next couple weeks. I appreciate all suggestions and help.

@Rainey-OIIIO 97and 98 are interchangeable years. 2.5l can become 4.0l, manuals to systematics and vice versa. The wiring harness is the biggest issue you’ll have. You can call me at 866-888-7710 and I will take care of you!

I just wanted to add an update. I was incorrect about the Engine year. It is a 2003 according to the Block numbers. Also, I wanted to add that my Transmission is an AX15 Manual and Transfer Case is an NP231 both out of a 1998 Wrangler Sport.

Ironically I thought putting a jeep engine into a jeep would make my life easier when it came to finding a PCM and wiring harness. So far the wiring harness and computer has been the hardest part of the entire rebuild and swap. If I don’t find one in the next couple days I’m saying the hell with the six cylinder .
