Gents,

I've been having my 98 Jeep Sahara for about a month now and doing a lot of research on lifts, but the more I read, the more I wonder if I really need to make a change, or what I should change....confused on both aspects....

I'm currently running some sort of Zone lift...the previous owner said it was a 4.25" Zone lift, it has tube lower control arms front and back, adjustable upper control arms on the front, factory upper arms on the rear, and what looks like 1.5" body lift. The front and rear drive shafts are factory and surprisingly are at great angles, which leads me to believe its either the zone 4" lift or the zone 4.25" combo lift....regardless the lift has about 30k miles on it. All other steering components, track bars and drag links are stock, currently sitting on 35's w/ spartan lockers in front and rear & 3.73 gears..... It rides great, drivability is decent now that I have the tires at 26psi and an alignment done,

I read that these lifts are entry level and bottom tier. I took the Jeep out riding this weekend and Im noticing some squeaks and clanks from time to time, which im attributing to worn out rear uppers and possibly a ball joint....no biggie. But if im going to tear into the jeep to change rear uppers, might as well knock out the full rear...what should I go with?

I like my springs / ride....should I just swap out upper and lower arms for better quality? If so, what brand? When it comes to steering components, while I dont have an issue at the moment, I want to replace everything when I do ball joints....what should I go with?

There is LITERALLY 100's of choices.....this is a light to moderate trail rig, I live in Louisiana, we have two kids and we dont have many mountains, so minor wheeling will be all that will ever happen. It will do 90% road duty, 10% trail and gravel roads.

Find out what you actually have

1) do you have a suspension lift? Stock front coils are 12”, stock rear are 8”. Measure your coils and report back

2) do you have a body lift? If so, how tall?

3) do you have a motor mount lift?

4) what is your tire size? What do you want your final tire size to be?

The Zone 4.25" combo lift uses the stock arms, MML and 1.25"BL. The 4" lift uses fixed length front and rear lower arms. The PO installed anything else.

Can't go wrong with Currie, JKS and Saavy suspension parts if you decide to replace any of them.

With a lift of 4" you should check to see if the rubber brake lines are long enough for when the axles are drooped while flexing out the Jeep suspension during off roading. You might need to make some adjustments in the brake line mount locations or install longer lines.

Been doing some research and looking hard at the Savvy control arm kits.....im new to jeeps, but they seems to have good reviews especially with the Jimmy joints....any feedback on these arms?

Figure ill upgrade the arms (I do all my own work), then save up for the track bars, then do the front steering components. Prefer to stick with one brand for all of it....
