I’m replacing my distributor and I’m having a hard time finding the “correct” mounting gasket. From oReilly to autozone to Napa and online, they all state that the gasket is Felpro 70051. This gasket is so big and wrong that not only is the outside diameter too big (1-11/32), but the ID is so big, it slides over the distributor mounting plate. The new distributor is the correct one as it’s the same as the oem.
I’m not sure how it seems everyone has gotten the wrong number, but I can’t figure it out. It could be that mine’s a 99, and the felpro is for 2000 and later and if so, I’m really in need of some help.
If someone recently installed a new distributor with a gasket that fit, can you tell me where you got it and what the part # and brand name is?
If nothing else do folks use gasket maker or silicone to make a seal?
