Here we go…
My a/c switches weren’t working. Only blowing on high. I replaced the Control panel with one I got off eBay. If you’ve ever done this you know the vacuum hoses they come with are too short. So I used my original. When I did this the a/c only blew out of the defrost. So I thought maybe my vacuum hoses are bad to. So I ordered new. In the meantime I used the short ones and had the control panel hanging out my glove box. And the a/c worked fine & blew out the vents. Which is another reason I figured my original ones were bad.
I got the new right length ones and same thing again, only blew out The defrost. I I thought maybe the eBay one is just too weak. So I got the Duralast one from AutoZone but same thing.

So does anyone know why my a/c works with the short Hoses, but only blows through the defrost with the original length ones?

The factory vacuum hoses attached to the control panel are approximately 12 inches long and are connected behind the glove compartment to the system hoses which go to the floor, vent and recirculation actuators along with the vacuum supply coming thru the fire wall. When the hoses from the control panel are routed properly; this length is adequate to connect to the system connector.
Recently I had a problem with mine slowly shifting while driving and I need to troubleshoot with a MityVac hand vacuum pump to locate where the leak was. In my case the problem was the clear adapter in the connector which joins the plastic nipples together.
