Advice on Rubi offer

Amazing the dealer has not fixed all those things. So engine miss, 500. Rust thru on the floorboard.... There will be a lot of other hidden rust issues.... 2000?? HighBeams??? Wiring, module, maybe just burnt out HB Bulbs???? But say 1000... RMS yeah, common problem. I'd try to stay under $10K. Like offer $9K.... Walk if he doesn't want to settle at $9500. Those issues indicate this could be a money pit. If it needs tires? Offer $8K.

X2 on this. I think you are headed for a lot of repairs up front, which isn't necessarily a deal breaker but you need to get him down in price to cover all that. I'd get a trusted mechanic to take a look at it and give you an estimate for repairs.

Kind of heartbreaking to walk away from a Rubi sitting on a frame like that, but..... just too many other issues. In the end I had him to 10,500, but I still walked. I have four local dealers keeping an eye out for me - the right one will come along..... thank u all for the awesome help and advice. I really appreciate the help!

Guaranteed unless he gets more tire kickers today he will counter with you tomorrow. He has to see the repair costs that you have brought up.

When I went but mine the dealer barely budged on price albeit it was an 05 rubi with 19.5k miles on it. Told him it would prolly need newer tires soon because they were the same mtrs that came on it new. He came down 500. I should have fought harder, but I was obsessed and emotionally attached from the start with it. I prolly would have paid sticker anyway for it

Same here and I also wish I had argued more. Mine needed new brakes and the lift was a joke, but otherwise it was in beautiful shape. It's hard not to get emotionally attached and be willing to walk away.

I was also only able to get him down $500, and only because he made a comment that the lowest he had offered the Jeep for was to an Army Captain, at which point my husband pulled out his ID and said we expected the same price. Bet that dealer won't try that again.

You are prob right - that's what I have experienced in the past. I think I am done with this one though, unless he seriously comes down. If anybody is looking and has an interest, it is at a car lot on Keyser road in Taylor, PA near Scranton.

It is listed on autotrader.com. If u put in 50 Mile radius from 17821, it should pop up for u. They have stand-back pics on there. I posted the ones of the frame they sent me earlier in this thread.

I agree with this. The dealer should have fixed all those things. What dealer sells a vehicle with a check engine light on? Even the sleaze ball dealers around here will fix that before trying to sell it.

I think I would either walk away on this one, or offer them a considerable amount less than what they are asking (at least 3k less), so that you have money to cover things that may go bad (i.e. transfer case).

The clean frame is a plus though!

Yes, the frame was beautiful - I had a hard time walking away from that. The check engine light actually came on during test drive, and the transfer case noise started after I got back to the dealer and let it sit at idle - sounded like a hard knock, but not in the engine. He txtd and offered it to me for 10,500 as I was leaving town, but there were just too many things I was unsure of, and I had zero trust in this dealer by that time. He claimed not to have known the rust-through in the floorboard was there, and threw his staff under the bus over other things he "told them to take care of". I'll find the right jeep. At least I have one to drive while I wait. .
