Another vibration thread

Well ladies and gentlemen, my vibration is gone. I found play in my front driveshaft slip as well as the "angry sparrow" noise from the double cardan. Here is a video to show what to look for...



On vehicle it was not as bad but I could still feel play while shaking it.

I replaced it with one from Adam's driveshaft. I've heard good things. Tha k you all for your help.

Since I bought my TJ a few months ago, I've had a mysterious and repetitive harmonic droning noise at any speed above 50mph, but it goes away the moment I take my foot off the accelerator pedal. I thought it was unbalanced tires, but it wasn't. I've crawled under and don't see anything obvious, but maybe drive shaft and joint related as well? (4.0 & 42RLE w/overdrive button)

Do you happen to know what speed they balance their driveshafts? I'm looking to find a DS shop that does true speed balancing (3000+ rpm).

Your pinion angle may be too high. On acceleration your diff is going to rotate up slightly. It could also be due to worn engine/trans mounts. With the vehicle still and the parking brake on, put the vehicle in nuetral and slowly increase rpms. See if you feel any excessive vibration. I would start with looking at those two things. More info on your build would be good as well such as lift/t case drop or double cardan shaft etc.

I wouldn't be able to help you with that. I never went that route because from what I researched, it was never the cause. Seems like tons of people trying to fix a vibe send them off and still have a vibration afterwards.
