I would say to them "Nice Jeep love the colour, when are you going to get the rust taken care of ?" and see what their reaction is..

I'd just leave a note on their windshield asking them to take a look at the frame and emphasizing that it's VERY unsafe to drive with how much rust there is. If it were mine, I'd like to know but many people don't take it well if you give them bad news about their recent purchase. They probably did not know about the rust, and perhaps thought they were getting a good deal and whoever sold it went to town making it look nice. I wonder how much they paid, hopefully they did not get swindled.

The Jeep does look pretty impressive in the first picture. Maybe they bought it to use as a decoration in the flower bed in front of their house. You know, like a modern version of the Amish buggy.

Well maybe most of you don't even know what I'm talking about. That's OK, not everyone lives near Amish country.

I guess I should add, it's not the Amish using them as a decorations, just a few random people in non-Amish towns near the Amish.

Note on the windshield or in person....one way or the other, they should know that they are driving a ticking time bomb. I would want to know if I had just bought something that was unsafe, where I could injury myself, my wife, other people or even worse.

That frame is scary. I can see a number of places where they simply welded over the rust.

All it's going to take is a bit of flex and that frame is going to break in two.

So the guest mentioned taking the jeep out on the local trails a few days ago apparently. I showed my director and he agreed with a loud holy shit. He is going to talk to them.

Over here they call that a 'Polished turd'....nice and shiny on top but a disaster underneath.
That wouldn't be allowed on the road out here we have a 'Warrant of fitness' check every six months....if it doesn't pass its not legal and off the road until its fixed

I lived in Scotland for a couple of years and they do the same thing. When the rust starts getting "bubbly", they're probably not going pass it on inspection. Or if a police officer looks too closely at it, you'll be told park it and don't put it back on the road until it's passed a new inspection.

Yep in England and Scotland I think its called an MOT (Ministry of Transport ) same sort of thing though...basically a safety inspection

Every 6 months, damn that is a lot.

I have always thought it would be fun to live in NZ or Oz for a little while, but an inspection every 6 months or a ticket for a lift would get old.
