AX 15 INFO

Redline MT-90 is what I'd go with, that's about the best transmission gear lube I'm aware of that is suitable for the AX-5 and AX-15 transmissions. MT-90 is a GL-4 75W-90 synthetic gear lube which is exactly what Aisin recommends. Aisin is the manufacturer.

What you DON'T want to go with is a standard GL-5 75W-90 gear lube as some early manuals erroneously specified. Most GL-5 gear lubes contain harsh sulphur-based additives that are harsh on the soft yellow metal synchronizers inside a manual transmission. A few GL-5 75W-90 gear lubes are ok as they are specifically made to not harm those soft yellow metals but they're not common.

Also officially 'ok' to use is a synthetic 10W-30 motor oil, Aisin determined it was a suitable alternative to the GL-4 75W-90 which is not easily found in retail stores. No worries about the 10W-30 and 75W-90 viscosities seeming to be so far apart, they're not. Gear lubes and motor oils are measured on different scales so 10W-30 motor oils and 75W-90 gear lubes are essentially the same viscosities so far as the parts they lubricate are concerned.
