Bestop Sailcloth Black Denim vs Diamond

Hello,
I'm shopping for a new soft top for my 05 TJ with full doors. I'm planning a Bestop Replace-a-Top Sailcloth model. My concerns are durability, quietness and the ability to install in cool weather. From what I've read the sailcloth is good for these things. What I'm not sure of it fabric color Black Denim vs Black Diamond. Is this just a color difference or is there a difference in the behavior of the fabric? I'm sure black diamond would look a bit nicer but it's quite a price premium. Any information is appreciated.

I run a Smittybilt top, and believe or not, have had good success with it so far. As far as color, the older TJ's like mine, a 2000, came with the black denim, at some point, and I don't know exactly when, they switched to the black diamond color. I went with the black diamond, and I prefer it over the black denim.

I would like to see a couple of close up pictures of the 2. I think my half doors and side back windows are different from the top and rear window material. I'm not sure which is which. The half door window material is slightly shiny and the top seems more like just cloth.

Well, this is the black diamond after I first installed it. Mine is a Smittybilt though, not a Bestop, so the colors may not be exact.

But thats iirelavent because you want the twill fabric.

Thanks for the replies. Twill is out of my price range. I have a hard top so this is only a half a year top

I highly recommend the Twill top if you can afford it. It’s actually quieter than my hardtop on the freeway

Sell the hardtop, buy twill.

Well everybody's needs are different. I wouldn't spend the money on the twill top, because I drive my Jeep with the top down 95% of the time. When it gets too hot, or too cold to do so, I put the top back up, and drive my car most of that time. If it were my daily driver, my opinion would be different for sure.

I just bought a Bestop NX Supertop in Black Diamond. I like the way it looks. I bought mine at Qadratech. Bestop has a $100 rebate offer on this top too. I'll be sending in my rebate request. It was tough to put on because of the tight fit. I bought this to replace an old model Supertop. I love the new door surrounds and the fold back top.

When I bought my 2001 TJ, black denim was the only option in black. The “grain” of the fabric is a little finer from what I can tell but does not look as black. From certain angles, it appears almost gray. Black diamond is the newer option and has a larger diamond weave. It also appears darker from all angles. Functionally, both are identical. I sometimes see the denim option cheaper than diamond or vice versa. I think it just depends on supply and demand.

I think that must be what my half windows are but my top is not. I like the back diamond, it has some sheen to it which I do like.
