Buying from CoPart

Hey guys. I’m looking to buy another parts Jeep, this time from CoPart.

I’ve been studying up and think I have a handle on all the fees but wondering if anyone has purchased direct or used a broker!

Some locals have directed me to autobidmaster and salvagereseller.com

I’d be interested in perspectives and your experiences if you’re willing to share.

My goals really are to get some stuff for myself then to sell the rest on the side to make a few bucks for my Jeep projects. Breaking down my first one really was educational and confidence building.

It depends on the auction type, some allow an individual bidder that doesn't have a license, others require a license and you will have to go through a broker to purchase.

Just an FYI, I purchased a 2003 Rubicon off of CoPart that was rear ended for 3K, plus 400 in fees, so 3400 total. I ended up parting it out. I made my money back, plus a little bit and kept the transfer case. Win win

I'm thinking it just easier to use a broker. You had to have more than just $400 Fees right? CoPart Fee, Gate Fee, Title, then tax and whatever else I'm missing. Fees may be a little higher with the broker but I quite honestly don't like dealing with the coPart people so far.

80 Doc fee
3658 total.

Not sure what the broker fees are. Didn't need a broker for this one. That was the only purchase I made off coPart so far.

Extremely Helpful.. THANK YOU very much. I understand if I make a bid at the kiosk there, it takes away about $50 in fees.. (Don't get it because they always seem annoyed with customers there but OK...)

Bringing this back because I am looking for an LJ to build (well send to Mr. Blaine to build). There appears to be a decent one in SD. I paid the $50 to join Copart. Attempted to bid and get an error message that I need a certain license or hire a broker. Go to the list of brokers and they want me to register for $150.

Can a normal person buy from Copart or do I need to also hire the broker?

Not interested in the ‘never buy a salvage vehicle’ discussion. Just hoping for assistance or experience navigating Copart.

From what I investigated, it depends on the auction. Some will sell to private party, others will only sell to a dealer, in which case you'd have to go through a broker.

That was before they changed their site and added the pay wall though.

Depends on the state some states allow others don’t so you will have to be a licensed dealer or go through a broker
