So tomorrow I am looking at a sweet 2000 TJ with 117k miles. At 84k miles the engine was swapped with another 4.0 MOPAR long block.

Is there anything special I should examine regarding the engine swap?

How does the engine swap impact the price or future resale value?

So far, matching numbers has zero impact on TJ values so future reasale, a new engine SHOULD be a plus. Altho, why was it required on a "new? low miles?" 84K TJ? AND where did the new motor come from?

A lot of questions, I doubt I'd buy it. Too many options on all the stories.

117K miles in 20 years? WOW, why? 6000 miles a year, is it in Colorado, California, Florida, Utah? Not sure about rust in Texas. But it should look like a new chassis. Just why a new engine on a low mile TJ?

I'd say if it looks like it belongs there it's at least the right one. The 4.0 changed a few things over the years and aren't always directly or easily changeable.

Whole engine or long block? Either way see if they have any receipts from getting the job done, check for any oil and coolant leaks and make sure the gauges seem to work.

If everything seems OK I don't know if the swap would make too much difference in price.
