Center console lock

When I bought my ‘98 2 weeks ago it came with no keys for the glove box and center console lock box and they were both locked.

I picked the lock on the glove box in under a minute, but I have worked on the center console for 30 minutes with no joy at all.

It appears to be a double wafer. It feels like pin 6 is seized but maybe there is a known issue?

Keep at it, it should be the same as the glove box lock. I really can't believe that there are security pins in there so, pin 6 might just be stuck, like you said.

Gave up and drilled out both rows of pins, had it open in 10 seconds. The lock was filled with crud and pin 6 was never going to budge.

Are there aftermarket barrel locks?

Yes. Ignition was rekeyed by PO.

The glove box and center console are Tuffy steel boxes. There is also a steel lock box under the rear seat accessible from the tail gate. I don’t have keys for any of them but at least I got them all unlocked now. Hopefully I can get them all rekeyed to 1 key.

Found the wheel lugs lock nut key, the Thule bike rack key, and was finally able to pull the fuse on the cabin lights so I can take the doors off!!
