Check Engine light

My Jeep has a check engine light. The code is PO463, but that is because my fuel tank is out of the Jeep. The reason I checked for codes is because my Jeep backfires once up to operating temps, which is obviously a bad o2 sensor. No code comes up for that though. It says monitors, 3 inc, catlyst, o2 snsr, o2 htr, 3 ready, misfire, fuel, comp. what does this mean. Which sensor do I replace. I have a 98, so I have 2 o2 sensors. Do I have any other problems?

Does the Jeep need to be running to get the o2 sensor code?

It needed to be running to set the code. If it sets it will be stored and be able to be retrieved while not running. Does that help?

The code should have been stored then? I had it running before I removed the tank.

Did you disconnect the battery while dropping the tank? If so it may have cleared.

I didn’t let it get up to operating temps since I disconnected the battery, so that is why I don’t have the code.

Then it should be there if there's a problem. O2s may not always set a code though.

Yes, it would need to get to temp.
