Cleaning garage floor clearcoat?

I have always used brake cleaner and a rag to clean up oil etc.

I moved into a newer house and the brake clean seems to be eating through a coating on the floor and it's a real pain to clean up oil spills etx. It seems to just make the mess worse?

Is it common practice for a garage floor to be coated with something like a clear coat? This doesn't have an epoxy look to it just normal looking concrete.

It's probably just concrete sealer, which acts like a clear coat to give it a shiny/wet look (think Costco floors). And of course it protects it from getting chalky and whatnot.

As far as cleaning it, maybe something less aggressive like dawn dish soap water or simple green or something of the sort.
