Clutch out-whirring sound

the other day when I was riding in the mountains of Tennesse, my 2006 with a 4.0 and a 6 speed manual tranny started making a whimy/whirring noise when the clutch was engaged. When I push the pedal in about an inch the sound totally goes away. Let the pedal out as there the sound is. About 7,000 miles ago (11 months) I had the original clutch replaced by a shop. The put in a LUK. Im sure the entire kit was installed. I read some similar posts and it appears that there may be some issues with the throw out bearing LUK uses. Upon cranking it up the sound is hard to hear, but after driving awhile it’s pretty pronounced… Throw out bearing??? pilot bearing?? I have driven thru knee deep water but I didn’t think that’d do anything. Throw me ideas please

You're just noticing the normal sounds of the input shaft and bearings spinning. The AX-15 makes the same sounds and they stop too when the clutch pedal is stepped down on.

I wondered about that. I drove back to Atlanta and it seemed fine. ( about an hour and a half) I only really notice when driving pretty slowly for a while. I drove on the interstate today and noted nothing amiss

The throwout bearing is only engaged when you press down on the clutch pedal. The 5-speed transmissions are notorious for making harmless gear rattle sounds when idling in neutral with the clutch engaged (pedal up). I don't know if that is true for the 6 speed. If the noise was not there before but now is, I'd guess input shaft bearing.

My 6 speed tranny makes clutch noises but there is nothing wrong with it.

That makes sense about engagement. Jerry says it’s normal, but the sound wasn’t there before. It’s under warranty from the shop for a while longer
