Coolant Flush Tips For Those Without a Hose

I've never flushed with coolant. I've flushed with distilled until it was completely clean, and then add half the cooling system volume in full strength antifreeze, then fill to full with distilled. After the first warmup cycle and it burps air out, fill with antifreeze, distilled, or mixed depending on what the current mixture calls for.

If doing a system flush to descale or remove rusty bits they need to go somewhere and that somewhere is the radiator/heater core due to the small size of the coolant tubes. Replacing or removing and back flushing the radiator should be on the list of to-do’s or you could end up with a clogged system. Reverse flow on the heater core might be useful to get rid of debris.
