Crank but no start

Hello,

My 97 TJ is having a starting issue. The issue is that it will crank but not start, I unplugged the battery and left it overnight, the following day it started but sputtered and died after about 2-3 minutes.

After that, it would not start again, still cranked though. After unplugging the battery again, it started for another 2-3 minutes, then sputtered and died again.

can anyone assist or point me in the right direction on what the possible issue might be?

I would greatly appreciate it.

Let's try to isolate the issue... try this first. Turn the ignition switch on-off-on a dozen times, leaving it in the on position 2 seconds each of those dozen times. Then try to start it and see what happens. If it starts after that you have a bad fuel pump.
