Crank Position Sensor Compatibility on '02 TJ

I picked up a Crank Position Sensor to fix my '02 TJ. 4.0L, Manual transmission. It was throwing the P0320 code, and the voltage looked fine at the harness.

I get the new sensor, OMIX part# 17220.13. OMIX's own site claims it is direct replacement for OEM part number 56027865AB. I went aftermarket primarily for time considerations: I can't be waiting two weeks for a Mopar part to show up, JEGS got this one to me in two days, and OMIX is generally a reliable brand, as far as I am aware.

The problem is.... it doesn't fit. Looks very, very, close. But it's a different plug for the harness. Pins look the same, but the plastic is molded differently and there's no way you'd ever fit them together.

My question for you all is:

Can I simply pull the plug off the old sensor and splice it onto the new sensor? It doesn't seem to have the same resistances across pins as the old one, but that may just be because the thing is shot. I can't imagine it's anything more than a three wire Hall effect sensor in there, so it might be worth trying.

My only other options for getting a sensor in hand quickly are super-cheapo knock-off Amazon brands, which i'd like to steer clear of.

Thanks for doing the legwork on those part numbers. Not sure how i managed to get steered wrong. When time and money (and stock availability) permit, I'll put the proper sensor in.

For now, i got impatient and Frankensteined the old plug onto the OMIX sensor. It works on a short run with no codes. Have to see how it does on a proper drive. If all it's doing is counting off the encoder notches on the flywheel, it shouldn't be a huge issue. Of course, for full disclaimer, neither I nor (I would assume) anyone else on this site endorses doing so.... but hey, work with what ya got.
