Hypothetically speaking can one do a R&R of the carrier and pinion bearings on a 99 TJ's Dana 35 without needing to do backlash/etc adjustments?

Thank you Hose Jockey. Tore it down this am and found the ring gear side carrier shim with a deep groove against the bearing side, and the carrier able to be slid right/left a bunch.
