Hi guys. Took my Jeep in to a local respected shop to look for excessive vibrations and wobble, and they are telling me they think it’s my tires.
Ive got Mickey Thompson Deegans on it and they think the tires are “squared off”.
Said all my suspension is tight. Good track bar, tie rods, etc.
Anyone ever heard of this? Any thoughts?

Imperfectly balanced/bad tires are, by far, the most common trigger of DW. And tire shops that primarily do small car tires seldom are good at getting big truck size tires perfectly balanced as is needed to prevent or at least deter DW.

Seems like you could swap front to rear and try it...or jack it up and run the tire speed up..surely the vibration will show up on the bad tire tires ?? Maybe even swap with a friend for a test.

I mean another article about death wobble.
Yeah my first solution was to swap front to rear. I probably went about 500-1000 miles after putting on my lift kit before an alignment so maybe that made the front tires squirrelly

I'm voting tires if nothing is loose .

It's easy to look at a front end, poke a few things and say "looks tight, must be the tires". Do the tires look okay to you? Can you switch wheels and tires with a buddy as a test to see if anything changes?

I don't think that tires are going to cause death wobble as often as other worn components but that's only from my own experience which is limited to my own Jeep and a couple of others. If it were me, and MY Jeep, I'd start by looking at the condition of the track bar bushings and mounting locations to be sure that they are in good shape and nothing is worn/wobbled out. Check your control arm bushings including the two that are pressed into the front axle. This is all time consuming but free stuff that you can do at home before letting the shop sell you a new set of tires.

Obviously, if it's a good shop and they know what death wobble is and how to deal with it then go with what they say.

Did you add a MML when you did the lift?
