Do Polk DB462 front speakers require adapters?

Just bought some Polk DB462 speakers for the front and some Polk DB522 for the sound bar, as far as I understand it, the rear are plug and play, but I have been told the fronts need some sort of adapters? Can anyone who runs them confirm that I do or do not. If so where can I find them

ah thank you, yes I meant the 462 for the front, but im going with the 522 listed here for the sound bar

You can tell what I’ve been shopping for . I went with DB522 and DB652 that found on eBay for $59 pair. Gonna add boom mat baffles for front figure for extra $10 or so can’t hurt. Just make sure order slim version to match Polk mounting depth. Ask me how I know

Not sure what year it changed, but the speaker adapter plugs are different.
I noticed there was a difference between the sound bar and sound pods.

So my speakers came today for the front and rear, a little off topic but I am currently putting the 522s in the sound bar, but I am not very good with electrical and it looks like I will have to do some soldering or something because the old speakers had an attachment and the new ones do not, @Chris I know you did these in your tj, what did you do? New speakers are on the left and the old ones are on the right btw

You can either cut and solder, or you can get these:

Those will allow you to just plug-and-play.

You'll want two sets, one for the fronts and one for the rears.

Thanks, I think im gonna cut and solder the wires since it would take almost a full month to get here ... anyone know how to do that?

You don’t even need to solder them. You just cut the connector off, strip the ends with a wire stripper, and get some crimp connecters at your local auto part store.

No need to solder

Our local BestBuy has a car stereo installation department so they stock the Metra adapters. I bought them right off the rack and made them match the Amazon price of $5 since BestBuy wanted $13 per set. Just did it a month ago. I also 3D printed front speaker pods for the DB522s I installed there. I went with 522s in the overhead speaker pods as well ('03 Sahara).

I saw a 'pod' like speaker adapter for the 5 1/2" speakers into the dash locations. It created an entire enclosure for the speaker. The guy added the pollyfill inside. He claimed it greatly improved sound quality compared to using just an adapter plate. It looked to be some form of a hard foam board product. Any ideas as to what he used?
