I noticed that when I run my A/C the compressor is very noticeable. It kind of makes a wherring noise as it cycles off and on and it seems to cycle frequently. In comparing it to other vehicles it is considerably louder.
The A/C blows cold and hasn't given me an problems.

Mine makes a whirring noise too, and also blows ice cold. I think that is just the sound the compressor makes. Turning off the a/c stops it immediately.

Mine whines when it runs. I've thought it was going out for the last few years maybe 20K miles. It's an obvious whir or whine like a bad idler pulley. I've replaced the clutch pulley, that's a different noise and it happens when the clutch is not engaged. Mine doesn't cycle frequently but frequent might be different to each of us. I haven't listened outside the cab.
