Hi, new to the forum and I have a question on my 2003 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 six cylinder, 5 speed manual transmission. The engine will not start, I have narrowed it down to a bad ECM. The part number on my ECM is 56044093AH. I have access to another 2003 Wrangler with a 2.5 four cylinder, 5 speed manual transmission. The ECM in this one is 56044088AH. Can anyone tell me if these ECMs are interchangeable?

I'd be surprised if they were interchangeable. I would expect the timing advance & fuel tables are going to be different.

Just curious, how were you able to isolate the problem to the PCM, rather than bad sensors or wiring?

it might work but just run on 4 cylinders :ROFLMAO:

I have the computer you need in stock if you choose to go used. I guarantee it is fully functional.

Good morning, all! I know this is a TJ forum but was referred here from a fellow TOJC member. I have a 92 YJ, 2.5 5-speed, manual. During Jeepin with Judd my YJ decided to just stop dead in its tracks. All the trouble shooting methods and part replacements lead to the ECM. I had sent it out to Module Mechanics in CO for refurb replacing the known capacitor failures. Upon return and install its a no go and was told from Module Mechanics that about 95 % success with the capacitor change and the remaining have no hope and considered "end of life" deemed no good. So, here's to hoping I can find one to replace it and help. Thank you for any help in locating and info anyone can provide.

@klbdiver I love Grady Judd and everything that he stands for! I have those ECMS available and can have one in your hands on Tuesday. You can call me at 866-888-7710 to discuss.

Thanks,

Mark Cantrell

Hello Mark, Thank you for the reply. We love JUDD too! Glad we spoke this morning. I hope you've received my order request via your website. Thanks again and the conversation!

In most years they are able to be reprogrammed to work with a 4.0 or a 2.5L. The 2003 ecms are not interchangeable. What issues are you having with yours?

I have a 2005 TJ. I sent my Ecm off to a company to be tested, was told none repairable due to internal fracture. My part # is 56044498AI but can any 56044498 work or does the last letters have to match?

each engineering update makes the part number change. All of our Pcm’s come flashed with the last OEM software update.

The last two letters start out as AA. Each time Chrysler engineers write an update the second letter changes.
