2005 with I6 and manual transmission. At 2000 RPM regardless of gear the engine seems to get louder. Kind of hard to explain but not a vibration more like an exhaust drone noise. Above or below 2000 by a couple hundred RPM it goes away. Does not happen with the clutch pushed in — only when the engine is loaded.

I noticed that the flange on the back mini-cat is loose to the exhaust manifold. Could that cause something like this? I’m going to tighten the bolts up when I get a second but wanted to see if anyone has had a similar experience?

I also replaced fan clutch in November but I don’t think that would just be loud at a certain RPM if it was bad?

Drove it to work today. Don’t believe it’s the fan. Sounds like exhaust noise. Seems to be coming from rear right near muffler. Don’t hear excessive noise at idle revving it up.
