My 2000 wrangler 2.5 makes this load squeal when I turn on the ac. Only the compressor though. I have already changed the ac clutch and bearing which didn't fix it. I read some say this is a tension issue on the belt and even one said this could be from the distributor assembly. Any advice? Thanks

mine had this issue After I did a thermostat replacement. I found out coolant/antifreeze isn’t good to get on the belt. Only made the noise when the A/c was turned on. I tightened and loosened the old belt and it never stopped, so I replaced the belt and haven’t heard it since.

So I guess in your case the belt was slipping. I wonder if the 2.5L TJ has a auto belt tensioner or manual. I believe it is manual. But not sure.

It might be worth replacing the belt depending on how it looks and when the last time it was changed was.

x2 to what Chris said. You can also get a belt that bypasses the AC compressor just to help diagnose if its an issue with the AC or another component.
