Exhaust manifold 97 TJ 4.0

Probably a dumb question but I’ve gotta ask…
Is it possible to remove and replace the exhaust manifold on my recently acquired 97 TJ 4.0 without removing the intake manifold?

Read lot of post and watched YouTube videos which all reference removing the intake but thought it can’t hurt to ask.

At 78 I’m always interested in minimizing the task when possible…

If the intake and exhaust share a gasket (not always the case) then it would probably be an issue since you really want a fresh gasket.

Yeah it gets tedious for us old farts.

I think you'd spend more time working around it then you would if you just pulled both.

And think of all the stuff you'll find to fix and clean along the way!

Replacing a cracked exhaust manifold was one of the first "big" jobs I did on my TJ. I did remove the intake, but honestly it wasn't a bad job. It took me 5 or 6 hours with plenty of breaks for water and re-watching youtube videos to make sure I was doing things in the correct order.

I'm 39, but I got the mileage of 78. You can do this. It ain't bad.
