Gas gauge not reading correctly

Two tanks of gas ago my gas gauge started reading only 5/8 of a tank when topped off. It seems like it is going down normally. I have not let it get low enough for the low fuel indicator light to come on as I don’t want to run out of gas. Anyone had this experience and know of a fix?

The float level built into the fuel pump is sticking. Normal for jeeps. Now is a good time to start recording miles per gallon and getting into the habit of resetting your tripometer at every fill up. I did this for a couple of years and finally decided to drop the fuel tank and replace the pump. If you replace the pump make sure you get the one for your size tank. Some jeeps came with a 19 gallon tank and most came with a 15. If it just started sticking you may try some fuel cleaner/sea foam to see if it helps.
