Half Doors

I got the Khaki half door panels about an hour ago. They come nicely packed with each side separately boxed and placed in a bigger box:

The corners have foam bumpers on them to keep them from getting beat up in shipping:

Here's a shot of the visible side:

And one of the other side:

And finally, a comparison of the color and pattern, but note that I'm comparing the OEM center console (top piece) to the Summit door panel (bottom piece):

The color is spot on (lighting conditions will make either look slightly different, but they are a very good match). The texture is different, but again, I haven't compared to the actual OEM door panels. red02tj's comparison showed a closer match between OEM and Summit textures.

Overall, I'm extremely pleased, although I haven't fit them up yet, and I don't know when I will - it's very low on the long list of work left to do (see my build thread).

Kudos to @Kevo1966 for getting an obscure part for a long-out-of-production vehicle made! I wonder if the crazy eBay prices will drop now???

Half Door panels have arrived! Added clips and the larger plugs also.

Any way we can get a color swatch posted up of these?

That does help, although it’s the same picture. Did they swap all the panels or use some photo editing?

Anyway that’s better than when i previously looked. I’ll have to review my doors once i get home to see if i need one set or two.

Glad these finally came available.

No telling, but I've learned not to trust most pictures of interior parts for color matches. Lighting conditions, along with how your monitor displays colors, make that pretty difficult. The Khaki color of mine is as good match as I could hope for.

Well this is great news, would like to see and hear how they fit in practice.

Yeah, we had an interesting day at work once taking colorblindness tests on the monitors. Some of us would "pass" or "fail" the same test depending on which of the various monitors through the office we used.

Mine are in really good shape. I had pair dyed and the color match is perfect, so I don't really NEED a replacement but my driver side is a chunk missing from the forward corner.. It was the best I could find at the time and still cost a bloody fortune. That said I don't see any of these labeled with the OE Agate.. There's Gray and Slate. Judging by the match between the door pull and the panel I'd say the Slate matches Agate but that's a gamble.

According to a 2020 thread started by @Toximus, there were three colors of gray/black used in our TJs:
  1. Mist Gray for 97-98
  2. Agate for 99-02
  3. Dark Slate Gray for 03-06
In that thread, there are comments that Dark Slate Gray and Agate are very close in color, with both being darker than Mist Gray.

And then, in @Kevo1966 's thread on the full door panels, which were produced before the half door panels, he said, "We have made all the factory colors from actual OE samples," but the colors he listed don't use the same names as Tox's post, and there are only two black/gray colors listed (Gray and Slate). However, on Summit's web site, you can definitely tell that the Gray is considerably lighter than the Slate.

My guess, and it's just a guess, is that Slate is meant to replace Dark Slate Gray and Agate, and Gray is meant to replace Mist Gray. @Kevo1966, care to shed some light on this?

I made the half Door panels in the exact same colors as the Full Door panels. We used original door panels for color matching by using the backsides of them. The half door panels will have new pictures made in the next few days and you could look at the full door panel pictures for comparision.

Thanks, Kevin. According to Toximus's post, the original gray/black interior plastic options, in chronological order of use in the TJ, were Mist Gray (97-98), Agate (99-02), and Dark Slate Gray (03-06). Is my guess that Summit's Slate matches Agate and Dark Slate Gray and Summit's Gray matches Mist Gray. Or, in other words:
  1. If you have a 97-98, order Summit's Gray, or
  2. If you have a 99-06, order Summit's Slate?
I think you'll sell more of these if you can clear this confusion up.

Added to the notes in the descriptions.

I received and installed my half door interior panels from Summit. My factory interior color is Dark Slate Gray. I ordered "SUM-RP20000-SLT". The color and texture is a close match. My jeep did not come factory with half doors so I have been fighting to get panels that would match best. The panels I replaced were in decent shape, but had some scuffs and fading on the top edge that I did not care for. I believe the half door panels I replaced are "Agate". The new panels seem to be a closer match to that, but once in the vehicle it is hard to see a color difference.
Summit panels come with new clips and upper window pin inserts. The fitment is good, a few rough edges from the mold that I smoothed out before install. I am happy with the product. Great option for a hard to find part!
