Hardtop Harness?

I recently purchased a hardtop for my tj that is wired den the factory for the rear wiper and defrost. Since the hardtop is from a newer model tj I new I would need an adapter to make it compatible. Long story short, in the factory wiring, this “extension” was bundled up with everything. I removed it because it just seems unnecessary but have no idea what purpose it serves. Anyone have any ideas?

That's kind of what I was thinking too but the male end and the female end match up perfectly so it wouldn't accommodate for the pin difference on newer hardtops.

Nope, that is a super cool thing that allows you to keep your soft top frame installed and still retain hardtop electronics. Basically its a jumper to connect the original harness around the soft top frame and into the hardtop. Nice find.

Hmmm...that's pretty interesting. Is the harness worth anything? I no longer have my soft top and have no intentions on getting another one so the harness has no value to me.

Maybe it is the difference between a TJ and a LJ.

It was an adapter for Jeeps with the Dual-top option when it was shipped from the factory with both tops installed. You were supposed to remove one of the two tops (either one ) then you removed the adapter and threw it away!

That could come in very handy for someone trying to adapt the wiring for a different year hardtop.
