Hello from Annapolis!

Hello everyone, figured I would go ahead and make an account since I'm sure I'm going to have lots of questions! Just got my "brand new to me" 2006 Sport. Pretty sure I'm in love. Here is a pic, and build sheet.

Seems I have a Dana 44 on both rear and front. Wondering why, and what they are good for?

Seems from research I may need a new track bar. The rear passenger tire sticks out about 2 inches further than the rest. Weird, becuase it looks like all stock equipment, and from what I read it seems the track bar issue seems to happen after lifting. Perhaps it was lifted at some point?

Looks like a super clean TJ, I'm impressed. Good buy for sure.

You definitely don't have a Dana 44 in the front (unless someone swapped it on there after the vehicle was purchased), but you very well may have one on the rear.

The Dana 44 in the rear was an option on the TJ, and it was primarily for the purpose of towing. However, being that the Dana 44 axle is much beefier than the Dana 35 (what most TJs came with in the rear), it makes an excellent axle for off-roading and running bigger tires. Be glad you have a Dana 44 in the rear, because they go for quite a bit of money when they pop up for sale.

In regards to the track bar, how much lift do you currently have? Even at 2.5" of lift with the stock track bar, your front axle would only be off to one side by less than an inch I suspect. 2" is way too much, and would likely indicate some other serious issue (even a tweaked frame).

It does look lifted, and it's hard to tell from the photo, but I would say just from looking it can't be more than 2-3" at most.

Thanks for the response! You are correct, just went and looked again, Dana 35 on front.

Perhaps than it is lifted? I'll have to start some research to figure that out. For now I will leave pics of the rear diff., and a quick snapshot of suspension.

Not lifted. 12" springs on front, 8" on rear. Suppose I'll take to the mechanic for a good looking-over. Carfax showed one owner, no accidents, and frame looks OK to me, but who knows. The tire sticking out a bit has me perplexed.

Probably just something out of whack. Either something needs to be adjusted or a component replaced. Either way, shouldn't cost much if anything at all.
