Ok so im installing a B&M cooler and new OEM radiator on my 06 lj. Im having a hard time with the quick connects on the radiator. I cant seem to find a tool to disconnect the line from the radiator. Ive searched on line and I found a tool at the part store for disconnecting but Its not working. Also I was wondering what everyone did when installing the cooler line from the radiator with the quick connect. Did you cut the metal tube on the quick connect line and clamp a hose to it? is there a quick connect fitting that has a barbed end?

I thought there was a metal wire/clip/lock thing on them that you slide out from the side so they can be removed.

I can’t tell you for sure though because my ‘06 had a aftermarket radiator with barbed fitting installed and the ends of the metal lines had been cut and a hole used to connect the lines with the radiator barb.

When I installed my B&M cooler, I just connected and hide clamped the hose to the metal ends of the OEM trans line.

wow now I feel like a dumbass. lol thanks. Now how did everyone connect the tranny cooler line to that fitting.

I suppose it depends on what type of lines your cooler has.

I think this would work on the radiator side. Clip one end in, put cooler hose on the other.

As far as the OEM hose side, I dont know. There may be an adapter to fit that end too, I just haven’t found it yet.
Thats part looks like it would work going in to the radiator quick connect, how can you tell what size fits in there?

Here is the B&M cooler side, but for the radiator I haven't been able to find anything that goes into the radiator quick connect..

It says that fitting at summit is 3/8. I think I read somewhere in the past that the original was 3/8, I’m not 100% sure though.

It looks like your cooler has the fitting pointed downward. When I installed mine, it said to put it sideways or fittings up to help bleed air out of it.

I have a B&M cooler, and I plan on installing it by attaching the factory fitting to the hose going to cooler (with fuel injection hose clamps) then use the line coming out of the cooler with the 397 part back to the radiator.

I've thought about getting a come fancy connectors and lines, but I'm too cheap and I'm confident my method will work.

Mine comes out of the radiator, into the cooler, then out of the cooler and into the return line to the trans.

My OEM radiator and lines had the quick disconnect fittings. The radiator cracked on top about 4 days before taking it on a trip. I was working 12 hours shifts covering for the 3rd shift guy who was in the hospital. I had my best friend change it and the water pump since I didn't have the time. He got a radiator from Advance Auto Parts which I didn't really want but didn't have many options on a tight time schedule. There were two choices of radiators. Quick connect fittings and one with the barbed fittings. He put the one with barbed fittings in since it was cheaper thinking I'd want to save money. He cut the end of the quick fitting off the hose and just clamped a small section of hose between the OEM lines and the radiator barbed fittings.

I would have told him to get the quick connect radiator if I had been thinking, but it's all worked out ok and runs fine. I do have plans to replace that radiator with a MOPAR one in the future. I'm just going to get the MOPAR one with the barbed fittings and go that route again. I'd have to change the trans lines otherwise.

Ok so I unscrewed the old quick connect and brought it to a hose & hydraulic place and had them make this. One end goes into the quick connect and the other to the new hose line running to the B&M cooler. Works perfect.

Glad to hear that! Thanks for the update.
