Have a 2003 Rubicon with 240k+ miles on her that i picked up a few months ago. Its throwing a P0301 misfire on cylinder 1 and no other codes. There are no noticeable sounds or hesitation while driving, but the code kept popping up over the last few hundred miles so this weekend i swapped injectors 1 and 6 in an attempt to track it down. All codes were reset during the swap given that the battery was disconnected. Took it out for a couple drives for a total of about 30 miles and it threw a P0432 indicating that the Bank 2 Main Catalytic Converter emissions efficiency has fallen below the minimum allowable limit, but no misfire codes to go with it.
I know that usually indicates an issue with the o2 sensors or cats, but given i just swapped the injector from the misfiring cylinder 1 into cylinder 6 which is in bank 2 i am thinking its a leaking injector.
I did notice while doing the swap that injector 1 was significantly more difficult to remove from both the manifold and the fuel rail than the other 5. Seating the swapped injector back into the #1 slot on the rail was also much tighter than the other 5 but no issue on manifold side.
As a next step i was going to clear the code with a scanner and see if it returns just to see if it was a fluke, but i wanted to get some thoughts on next steps.
