HP housing swap

I have a 2006 tj that has a bent front axle housing, I was able to obtain a HP housing from an XJ but it is just an empty housing. What will transfer over? I’m trying to buy as little parts as needed.

You'll need a ring and pinion with the correct install kit (if I remember correctly the HP30 doesn't use a crush sleeve).

Everything else works. Once you have gears in it, pull the unit bearings and shafts as assemblies, knock the outer knuckles off and swap them over, put all the shafts, bearings, brakes from your TJ into the HP.

Make sure your new gears, ring and pinion gear are reverse cut for the HP. I did the same thing a few years back and it was definitely a great upgrade in clearence and strength.

You’re starting over. Trash everything but the axles, bearings, and case. Buy new reverse cut gears.
