I have an 03 tj and only fan speeds 2 and 4 work. I've seen so many different fixes to this but I don't want to start throwing money at it. What do y'all think the most likely cause is? I'm happy to give more info if y'all need it.

Remove the resistor, check resistor and harness connector for signs of over heating....
Make sure to get the correct resistor.
They changed the design in '02 (IIRC).

Before swapping resistor, I would recommend checking the back of the fan speed switch for wiring issues(melted wires, corrosion, etc..)

just got back in from changing the resistor and all the fan speeds worked as they should! All the connections and wires looked fine and the old one looked fine aswell. It was more than likely the original one.
