I don't suppose there is any vendor out there somewhere who makes a hybrid soft/hard top is there? I was thinking tonight how cool it would be if there was a top that was a hard shell over the rear passenger area of the Jeep and a soft cover / targa top style in the front. The worst part of putting the top up is fighting with those ($#%^%$! zipper on windows. When I go topless, I only care about the area above my head being clear to the sky.

I assume no such thing exists, so I will likely just buy one of those conversion kits to make it fold back like the JKs do, but I was thinking a hard top rear would be awesome. Especially if the glass windows would easily pop in and out. Kinda like the flip of a late model K5 Blazer / Bronco top removal functionality.

That I know of, no such top exists commercially for TJ's.

I love the 'sunrider' feature of my softop. I bought the parts from a gentleman on Ebay that pieced together a kit called 'flip ur top'. I almost never take out my windows after installing the 'sun roof' feature.

The only things out there are two-piece hardtops, I would imagine, and I've never had one so I wouldn't know how much trouble it is to take off the front of the top and/or where you store that when off. I know Bestop makes a sunrider you add to front of the JK freedom top that replaces the freedom panels, but I am sure they have no plans for a TJ version, as that market is shrinking. If someone had one of those two-piece hardtops, they might be able to tell you what would be involved in designing and implementing a sunrider front like you are asking about..

Nope, I've never seen anything like this unfortunately.

The "closest" thing I've seen commercially is the Trektop NX Soft Top. (I think that was the version)

It's still a soft top...but the material is so thick, stiff and tight, (I swear I'm not trying to allude to a certain writing genre), it feels "close" to a hard top.
The version I saw had rigid windows.

My Besttop has a little sun flip above me. It opens up about 2 feet - not the entire driver side. But it takes 10 seconds to flip up or down. (Well, it used to until I put my roof rack over it...)

Yea, I figured that was a "unicorn" heh. I guess I'll just get the "flip your top" thing and see if that satisfies, thanks all :)
