Install Adjustable Lower Control Arms???

I'm thinking of installing adjustable lower control arms. What do you think? Good idea? Bad idea?

Not sure if you would call it a need. Just always looking to improve on the overall performance of my rig. Looking for feedback on those that have made the upgrade and their pros and cons.

Depends on the arm and what joint it has.

Good idea.
I would rarely classify installing adjustable lower control arms as a "bad idea".
Even if you have a completely stock Jeep...unless you're installing some poor quality adj control arm, it's not a "bad idea" to have them adjustable. It would just cost money.

Theoretically, if you install a solid adj control arm with rubber bushings...then that's arguablely worse than stock.
The stock one allows a tolerance for twisting.

Otherwise, one with a johnny joint will be better...or at least not worse.

If you've lifted your Jeep, which it looks like you did, then you most likely have a shorter wheelbase if you are still using the stock control arms. So an adj control arm with increase your wheelbase back to stock length.

In general with roughly 4" of lift, no it won't. The wheelbase is determined by stuffing the axle fully and centering the wheels in the wheel opening. With a 35" tire and a decent amount of uptravel, you don't have much leeway at either side to adjust the wheelbase so you center the tire and the wheelbase is what it is.

Thanks for the feedback. The lift I have is a RE that is more than a decade old but in good shape. New bushings and joints this past spring. Running 315's on the 17". Thinking of adding the lower adjustable for better axle location.
