Interior Maintenance Restoration and Repair

Question! I know this is old - but there are a couple colors for mist grey on vinyl pros website - which one ended up working best for you? Match pretty good?

Looking to paint my door panels here mist grey but am not sure which one to click send on via vinyl pros site.

The paint trim code (C3) for my '98 TJ prescribed Mist Gray so check that first. The matching SEM custom color is SEM #4940 (Chrysler) using SEM's color chart linked below & clipped for easy reference. Vinyl Pro used SEM's #15993 (universal) spray can color coat to mix the color. I purchased two cans totaling about $85 including shipping which I thought to be pricey back in Feb '22.

Results: I found the paint color to be a tinge darker than other areas of the interior and original door panels. Keep in mind that we are talking about 25-year-old paint which I am comparing it to. Still, it appeared very slightly darker than the original so not sure if it's because of the aforementioned aging or the Vinyl Pro mix/formula was slightly off/different. The SEM paint was VERY high quality when compared to the others I had tested. The custom color #4940 was actually a more appealing tone and, at some point, I plan to refresh the entire interior in that shade.

Alternatively, you can likely have a local SEM retailer perform the same mix (if one is nearby you) and/or color match a panel if you take it into them. I'll try to post some pics of a #4940 spray card alongside the original gray mist interior so folks can see the difference if it is discernible. Take care.

It was for me as well. The point I wanted to make here though is to make sure try the baking soda cleaning route to remove fading and oxidation before you buy paint. I bought the paint and then tried the baking soda cleaning process and the results were so good I didn't have to paint.
