Hi guys, sorry to say this is my first post after lurking for a long long time. However I’m badly in need of some help. Here goes..
2006 Jeep TJ Unlimited. Basically since I bought it about 6 months ago, I’ve had an intermittent starting issue. Every once in a while, it will crank and no start. First time it happened it took a while to diagnose but just to troubleshoot I swapped the fuel pump relay with another one and it fired right up. Now I don’t even swap, I just pull the relay and plug it back in and it starts right up. Every once in a while it actually starts but feels like it’s running on only a few cylinders or severely missing, but pulling the relay and sticking it back in fixes it temporarily. Probably starts normally 99 out of 100 times then one of the above happens. Oh and the OBD2 doesn’t show any codes through all of this.
I have pulled every relay out of the fuse block and cleaned any corrosion extremely thoroughly. I also bought a brand new fuel pump relay and it did nothing.
I think if it was the CPS then the fuel pump relay trick would not have any effect.
I don’t think it’s the fuel pump, wouldn’t it either work or die?
Ignition switch?
Ideas?
Thanks!
