Is this a third catalytic converter or a resonator?

I just bought an 03 tj with a 4.0. Both cats at the exhaust manifold have been replaced as well as the sensors. Looks like it has the original rusty worn out muffler and tail pipe. My question is, just before the muffler is another canister type thing. Is this a 3rd cat or is this a resonator? Planning on replacing muffler and tail and was wondering if i can just delete this. thanks

Third cat. When I replace my exhaust it’ll go away.

The small spherical parts near the O2 sensors are pre cats and the larger is the primary cat...
