Jeep TJ Front Seat Issues

Good Evening,

I have a 98 TJ Sport, 4.0, 5 spd.

I am having issues with my passenger seat specifically. Right now the seat is all the way forward and sliding it back does not work unless I remove the seat, hold part of the bracket in place with a pair of pliers and pul the lever. Making the seat tilt forward is just as painful with that lever which is way under the seat and very dofficukt to reach.

In my old CJ the seat lever was on the side and it worked great. Has anybody ever successfully transferred the seat from a CJ to a TJ or come up with a modification to make the TJ seat work better?

The jeep has a U shaped lever that attaches to both sliders under the seat. The ends may be falling out of the notches. Perhaps removing the u shaped rod and stretching it a tad wider will help. Mine slips out sometimes and I just reach under and plug it back in.
