I'm looking at a stock '06 6 speed Rubicon tomorrow with 75K miles, how should I test the lockers in this thing?

The only for sure way I know of to test them is to engage the locker then get the axle off the ground and spin one of the tires. If they both spin the same direction, you have working lockers. If they spin opposite directions (one forward, one backward), the locker isn't working.

My loc-rites with one wheel off the ground either won't turn or the cam will unlock as the wheel spins faster than the other like in a turn. Remember if your on the gas putting pressure on the locker in a turn she shouldn't unlock. To test two lockers hole shot in the sand.
I had one experience with a Dana 70, 11k pound rear axle in a slow short right and left turn unlock both axles. I heard it ratchet then lock up again. I been runnng this Detroit locker since '85. When I first tested this truck with two lockers I stopped going down the steepest hill we had in town in a snow storm. In high range 4x4 I put the 400th auto in reverse and backed up hill without spinning any of the six tires(1 ton 4x4)
Most of my experience with lockers is off road doing firewood full time. I come out of the forest weighing around 15k gvw. I drove through stuff you couldn't walk through loaded. I see conversations which is better a standard tranny or a automatic tranny? I had both setups in this truck. Even with the four speed with the granny gear the 400TH with the stall converter pulled harder. The converter is a torque multiplier. Talk about spinning six super swampers. If your running a auto tranny the heavy duty b&m flex plate is a must. Like they say pay me now or play me later. I cracked the stock flexplate once.

Rubicons have electronic, selectable lockers. So unless you turn them on, they should be off all the time - turning, sitting still, going straight, wet road, icy road, etc. What you're referring to is an automatic locker, which behaves and works differently than a selectable locker.
Also, the rest of your post does nothing to answer this guys question. Sounds like a cool truck...but lets stay relatively on topic.
I found a gravel parking lot. Shifted in 4 lo, then engaged the rear locker. Once the light quit blinking, I drove in a circle. You'll be able to feel the inside tire dragging if it's locked. Then hit the button again to engage the front, and repeat. It's pretty obvious when it's working, even if you've never driven a locked vehicle before. Make sure the turn is tight tho...the tighter the turn, the more obvious the locker becomes.
Also, if the light doesn't quit blinking, you might still be locked up. It should lock pretty quick. If it feels like it is taking to long, roll forward slowly. If it still hasn't gone solid, you might have a bad switch or a locker problem.

The most sure way, as already been stated, is if you can jack each end of the Jeep up, engage the locker, and see if the wheels will turn in the same direction.
(With an open differential, as you know, the wheels will turn in the opposite direction)

Found a low mileage stock '06 Rubicon on craigslist. I was his first caller. Told him I was 3 hours away and had cash on hand. He called me 30 minutes before I got there telling me he just sold it. A**HOLE!!!
After driving 2.5 hrs?? That is a dick move, I would have been pissed.
