Looking for advice on LJ purchase

New member, looking to get into the Jeep world and really like the extra room in the LJ without the extra doors. Wondering what you all think about this one.

The price is right and it looks good.

Being as though you're in Arizona, you have access to what should be mostly rust free vehicles.

However, as with ANY TJ or LJ purchase, the first thing you should check out (and your entire purchase should largely be based off this) is the condition of the frame. If it's rusted out, it's not worth a dime.

I'd ask the seller for lots of detailed photos of the underside.

That appears to be a nice buy with all the aftermarket equipment it has. Am sure you have checked craigslist plenty, was a rubicon model LJ on there in Glendale AZ. a couple days back, guy was asking $16000 if your interested.
As Chris mentioned.....RUST biggest enemy!

Looks like quality upgrades from USA Fab shops. Dirtworks bumpers, AtoZ sliders, Savvy gas tank skid. Like @Chris said check the frame out in detail before purchasing but from the parts list the seller has good taste.

Welcome to the group. Just to echo, the prixe is good and owner has installed quality addon's which to me say's they looked after it. As said above look at the frame. Wear some old clothes and crawl under it.

Look at the body mounts and along the lower side of the frame. The rust, if any, will be evident and be concerned if the frame has been painted as some try to hide rust with paint. Light surface rust could be expected in a 12yr old ride but flaking is another issue.

People are mentioning rust but not saying where, big places to check are the torque boxes, where the frame bends, where the transfer case skid plate mounts, and under the front fenders on the flat section.

I would also check under the carpets especially the driver and passenger floor.

Being in Az it shouldn’t be a problem but it could’ve lived elsewhere.

Great info, thanks everyone. I think the Jeep lived in Utah prior, so rust is on my radar.

Because it has been worked on by Letzroll in Mesa. Talk with them and have them give it a once over. They are stand up people over there and do good work. When you spend that much money i would have a quality shop look it over.
Might cost you a couple bucks but it will save your butt in the long run.

If the guy objects to it. You can bet it has bigger problems then he says.

Thanks for that rec. I've got a mechanic I trust but he's by no means a 4x4 specialist, so that's another thing I was looking for.

@ac_ and myself have done business with them. I trust them to do good work. They are helpful in giving you options.
