Looking for answers - Hub replacement pulling on steering

Hi again everyone,

I just had my passenger side front hub replaced and was on the way home with it when i realized it's pulling significantly to the right as I drive. The faster I drive the harder it pulls. but then if i hit the brakes it pulls hard to the left. Now it should be mentioned that the person who swapped the hub stated that the driver side hub was in need of replacement as well (already ordered now, will be here next week).

My ultimate question is this: is it pulling because it's out of alignment due to the first hub replacement? is it pulling due to one hub being new and the other is bad?and is it pulling hard to the left due to a braking issue such as potential air in the lines?

Asking just so know what i'm getting into before we replace the other hub and it turns out it's a much larger problem?

The unit bearing hub height dimension slightly changed in mid-1999. I wonder if the installer used a newer hub which will cause problems. It should be a 97-98 hub.

and i just bought the one for the opposite side as well from the same link

That looks correct. Was the rotor changed too when the unit bearing hub was replaced?

The rotor was not replaced, no sir.
I need a full brake job done soon as the brakes are definitely worn.
I will have to buy those next but currently am strapped for cash - they weren't kidding when they told me Jeep means Just Expecting Every Penny lol

Well that's too bad, I was hoping for an easy fix. However, I doubt the problem will be expensive to fix. Good luck with it!

Jerry, as usual, thank you for your input and advice I'll likely have to wait until I replace the driver side hub to see if that fixes the issue mentioned above. If not then I'll have to check and see if its the brakes or alignment overall.

When you drive the Jeep are their noises coming from the area of the front wheels ?
Suggest you jack up the Jeep, chock the tires so the Jeep will not roll, place jack stands under axle tubes then spin the front tires listening for noises and checking for freedom to spin.... remove the rims and do a visual....
You will probably be able to answer your own questions.

I'm a bit confused. Given your statement of being low on funds I don't know why you picked that over priced piece of shit unit bearing. I would have done something from Rock Auto which would get you two hubs for almost what you spent on one. Especially since I wouldn't run that one you bought if it was free.

Last thing you touched. If the pull started after they replaced the hub, nothing on the other side is causing it.

Pulling one way, then the opposite with brakes on; could be a stuck caliper.
