Have a 16 Wrangler Sahara with 6 speed manual. Purchased new in May. Now have 11,000 miles on it and since 25 miles when clutch is engaged there is a clicking noise. Took to Secret City Dodge in Oak Ridge Tn and they found metal through out trans from a bad throwout bearing. CLEANED OUT trans and installed new imput shaft bearing and throwout bearing. Picked Jeep up Oct 28th which was a Friday. Later that evening noise returned. Called Secret City Saturday morning and they made appointment for Wednesday Nov 3rd to drop off. No news Thursday so I called Friday around 5pm. Was informed that Chrysler told them this is normal... Really? Owned several manual trans vehicle's and never had a clicking in clutch. Anyone heard of this???

Melody, I had an 07 std. transmission, and it did not make any noise like you are describing. I also do not keep up on JK issues any more, so I don't even know what transmission they put in the 16 JK. You probably will get more help from a JK forum, though...
One thing you could try is to have the service tech ride with you, hear the noise, then have him go with you on a test drive in a new one off the lot for comparison.

Brand new vehicle still under warranty, I would be up their ass until it is fixed or replaced. Check out the "Lemon laws" in your state. Generally they get three attempts to repair and if not fixed, they have to offer to buy it back or give you another vehicle. Good luck.
Take it to a different Jeep dealer's service department for a second opinion. There's no requirement in your new-Jeep warranty that your Jeep be serviced by the same dealer who sold it to you.
Don't tell them you're just there for a second opinion. Instead, tell them about the issue and say you aren't happy with how your selling dealer is blowing you and the problem off as nothing. That you'll use them for all future service if they can figure out the transmission problem.

I don't care what kind of Jeep you own, you're certainly more than welcome on this forum. I was simply stating that since it's primarily a TJ audience, she might have better luck amongst a predominantly JK crowd.

No Chris, it doesn't have to be a rubicon model. That idea went away several years ago.
I am a member of several jeep type forums because I want a broad knowledge base. For example I ask a question about tail lights on other forums. I got input there. Here I got nothing. Don't get me wrong. I like this forum and appreciate the effort you put into it. I was measly suggesting another forum that also may provide an answer. In fact, the is a TJ and A JK section.

It has been a point brought up before.
That forum was started my Mac when the Rubicon came out in response to the ignorant idea that real jeeps were built, not bought. Over the years that bias faded and it was recognized that being elitist wasn't a good idea and it slowly open up. In fact, some smart ass jumped on a person who didn't have a rubicon and had the audacity to post on ROF. He was buried in "shut the hell up" post. Like here, everyone is welcome and personal attacks are not tolerated. Now one of our highly respected members , there and here, may have gotten into a pissing contest with another-— it quickly died. :2guns:
Me? I am in it for the knowledge: to gain and to pass on. I rarely make an opinion post unless I have first hard knowledge of which I speak and it is the same on all forum in which I participate.

I would do EXACTLY like Jerry said above, I have practiced that approach my whole adult life and have been able to say "gottcha" a few times and it always felt great. Today I think the're (dealers) all in the tank for the manufacturer sadly, And it's only my gut feeling here but my paranoid brain makes me think they run your serial number when you first arrive at a dealer and it now includes all of your service history performed at any authorized dealer which makes great business sense. Keep screamin for the top brass of the manufacturer and you should get results, Do not settle for what you are describing, threaten to use social media also. :coleman:
You're right. The elitist attitude doesn't work, and all it does is show that you're a dick if you have that sort of attitude.
As mentioned, I don't care who joins the forum, even if they don't have a Jeep. I just don't want to misguide someone. I've seen a lot of people join who bought a JK but had no idea of the whole YJ, TJ, JK nomenclature, and therefore they didn't even know this forum was geared towards a specific period of Wranglers. If they don't mind that, then I don't mind at all, I just don't want them to be confused or anything.

I'm sorry guys about posting about a JK on your TJ forum. To me, a Jeep guy or girl came have any kind of Jeep and Im going to wave and talk to. I didn't realize I needed a TJ to ask a question about our transmission. Figured the trans was the same in a TJ, JK or UK. Have a clicking when clutch is engaged but Chrysler says it's normal. I don't think so though and just figured other Jeeper's might have a suggestion. Again, sorry.
Not saying you shouldn't have asked here, just saying you might find someone who is experiencing the same thing on a JK. Apparently the NSG370 is still being used on Wranglers since 2005, but whether the linkage, clutch, throwout bearing and such are still the same is unknown. Any of those might be the source of the noise. Best advice is still don't take that dealership's word that this is 'normal'.
Is Chrysler saying it is normal or the dealership? Big difference. Like Jerry said, take it another dealership and get another opinion. There is also the BBB and possibly a state auto repair board that may be of help.

Took jeep 1st time and they found metal in transmission and said throwout bearing was bad. Replaced bearing, cleaned metal out. Picked up and clicking noise still there. Only when clutch is engaged. Transmission shop said a spring on pressure plate coming out sounds like. Any opinions?
