My 1997 Jeep Wrangler TJ wont go into 4 wheel high or low

My 97 Jeep tj wont go into 4 wheel high or low. When I pull the lever to shift into 4 wheel no lights come on and the linkage is hooked up but I can’t tell if it’s hooked up right. Nothing happeneds at all when I pull the lever

Post pictures of the linkage if you can. It's almost certainly a linkage issue, especially since you're saying nothing happens when you pull the lever.

In addition to what Chris said, consider replacing the linkage altogether with a cable shifter. It is much simpler, and also shifts much more smoothly. Far fewer moving parts to deal with.

I had all kinds of issues with my 4wd shifter. All of it came to an end when I installed the savvy cable shifter. It truly lives up to the hype. It really works!

Was anything changed prior to the transfer case shifter issues?

Tighten the 13mm nut on the linkage today, if it’s still there. Be sure th linkage is al intact ..there’s more , but start with this and lube it.
