I’m mid-process installing a JeepAir A/C retrofit in my TJ. I was stopped mid process a few weeks ago due to being shipped the wrong heater core. Long story short this part was missed when tagging parts for reassembly.

A google search of the part number availed nothing. What is this part?

Tia.

Me too - 🙂 - It attaches opposite the blower motor inside the air box. Hard to understand the purpose of that part. The air box probably won’t miss it if it’s gone. See pic

This was the ticket. Thank you sir! How’s your install going?

I just got the dash apart this past weekend. The old box is out, the new (used) A/C compatible box is going in Tuesday. The mounting bolt/nut behind the engine is a pain to remove, but remove it I did. I had to cut the resistor connector off the old box and splice it to the a/c box as that one had a melted resistor connector. I took advantage of access to clean the vent tubing, and generally clean the firewall area (20 years of dirt). Slow and steady wins this race. Fingers crossed I don’t screw this up and have to remove the dash again to fix some mistake..

Everything is done. The A/C control works, turning on the blower and actuating the actuators correctly. Air blows hot when heat is called for (a/c system on the engine side still has to be installed/charged). It does appear that the back light behind the vent selector is not working. Everything else on the dash and steering wheel is working.
