about a month ago an engine/ belt squeal arose at first starts in the morning then would go away after the motor warmed up and not come back. Then over the last 2 weeks the squeal would happen more often like any time the motor had time to cool off. Checked the belt and it looked good no cracks or anything major. Then over the last couple days the squeal was ther pretty much the entire time. I though crap something broke going to have to replace one of the Pullys or the like. Well on the way home from work I decided to go ahead and pick up a new belt and install before I started to dig into it In the morning. Let the motor cool off switched the belt and to my amazement NO MORE SQUEAL!! I’m so happy right now. Will start in the morning just to confirm but looks like it was just the belt that ounce pulled did looked a little glazed over.

Sounds like maybe it was just time for a new belt! That can happen when they start to get old.

Glad it's all fixed... and an easy fix too!

Belts made in the last 20 years or so don't show cracks when worn like so many think. They wear with little visual indication. The little V grooves wear down and don't grip the pulleys and cause that noise. Some people like to insinuate mechanics are ripping you off when they recommend them without cracks, but they are wrong.

I sprayed mine with a quick fix CRC for now until I have time to change it.
I bought a Bando brand 6PK2240 oem replacement.
